Vault 2016 Pro - remove item-file link or change secondary to primary

When converting an AutoCAD dwg to Inventor model and idw, I need to change the Vault item primary file link from the dwg to the model. I was able to do this in Vault 2014 using UpdateAndCommitItems. How is this done in Vault 2016

Hi,

i can suggest you to use vapiTrace a little free Tool, which allows you to see which API functions are called with which arguments and what the response from the Vault server is.

I changed the secondary Link to a primary Link via the vaultExplorer and traced the API calls from Vault (see attached file).

There are three important function which have to be called in order to achieve your goal:

ItemService.EditItems
ItemService.UpdateItemFileAssociations
ItemService.UpdateAndCommitItems
