File conversions in Autodesk Vault

Hi Autodesk,

We are trying to do file conversions and organize our files. We currently have 3D (3D DWG) models of our furniture and would like to automate the process for making 2D DWG files. Is this something Autodesk Vault can help with?

We also have Solidworks (SLDPRT) files that we would like to convert to 3D DWG files as well.

Hi,

Vault can help to automate routines as part of lifecycle transitions. This means you need to leverage AutoCAD or Inventor API to create the conversion it self. Once you have this automation, then custom Jobs for Vault can all this, e.g. during approval or release process of your design.

Hope this helps to get an idea of the architecture you need to think about.
