Hi Jim,

The SDK doesn't really have a way of changing the prompt's text. One option is to set the default response to the prompt to "No To All" and to set the frequency to "Never" so that users are not even prompted if they would like to replace the newer file and the operation never goes through, however, this might prevent users who are intentionally trying to replace their files.

Another option would be to explore using web service command events to perform your own validation on various operations. If you check for the "replacing a newer file" condition yourself in these event handlers, you could display your own prompt to the user. You could prevent the users from seeing the other prompt using the approach I describe above but have the default answer set to "Yes" so that operation goes through unless your custom validation in the event handlers stop it.

Perhaps there are other, more creative approaches, too. Hopefully these suggestions might get you started.

Editing Prompts?

After having numerous users not paying attention to the Vault prompts (being very "click happy") and thus overwrite a days worth of work, I'd like to be able to customize or edit the prompts.

Mainly the Check Out command prompt.

The Prompt text reads: File "{0}" is NEWER than the data in the Vault. Are you sure you want to overwrite it?

This is the prompt they complain the most about saying they don't understand what it means, but then they still select "Yes"....go figure. Of course they blame the software and tell their manager Vault deleted all their changes, etc. and then it all comes down on me having to defend the software.

What I'd like to be able to do is edit/customize the Prompt Text, but in the Manage Prompts dialogue box, I'm not allowed to edit or add to this. How can I?

(Vault WorkGroups 2012)
