G'day folks, I'm a bit of an SBD noob. Been trying to model and analyse a structure, but when I try to compile loading patterns for an M1600 (AS5100.2) I get this exception:

My first thought was that I've messed up in my model somewhere (still a possibility), but I made a completely new one from scratch and tried again and keep hitting the same error. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

Happy to provide more info if needed.

Thanks.

Hi,

I don't think I have seen this one before so I would like t take a look at your model to check out a few things. Could you please zip up your data file and attach it to a reply to this post and I will take a look to see if there is anything obvious.

BTW, thanks for the detailed explanation, it always help when I know the design code being used and the captures screen shot says a thousand words.

I look forward to seeing your model

Kind Regards

Dave Geeves

Thanks Dave, I assume the data file is the *.sst file? I'm going to try a reinstall this morning and see if that fixes anything.

Appreciate the help!

Update: I've just reinstalled SBD and it is now telling me that all of my old projects are invalid, so you may not be able to open that model at all. I'll make another one and report back how that goes. Could very well have been some anomaly with my install.

Second update: New install has the same problem as my old install, and another person in my office has the same issue. I've attached pics of the error message it gives me when trying to open files (all created using 2022), and the point it gets to when trying to compile loading patterns. Not sure what to do at this point!

Hi,

Thanks for the data file. It sounds like your ASBD install was of an earlier version than the one you saved your file in. I will try the open the file now and let you know but I won't be working on this until tomorrow as it is quite late in the UK now.

I will reply soon

Kind regards

Dave

Hi,

I got the same error as you at first - and then I realised that I hadn't updated the 2022 version with the latest hot fix (5 days ago). When I did this I could open the file no problem. As I say I will continue with this tomorrow..

Dave

I'm not sure how to apply updates or hotfixes, I use the Autodesk client for all installs and no pending updates are showing. I always install updates as soon as Autodesk notifies me. My current version is 22.0.0.147.

Hi,

Thanks for drawing our attention to this issue.

The exception you came across during Live Load Optimization is thrown due to the primary carriageway having identical edge offsets (= zero width). Of course, this case should be trapped, so I have added this issue to our shortlist for further examination.

As a workaround, please delete and redefine your carriageway like this (assuming a 4.5m width):

This will let Load Optimization pass through:

Best regards,

Karoly

No worries Dave, I appreciate your efforts. Thanks to both you and Karoly for your help!

As far as applying fixes and versions, as I said I just leave it up to Autodesk and up until now I just assumed it kept me current. We're a very small business and our IT is outsourced, so they really only look after our networking and security.
