Hi there,

When I draw and section with reinforcement, and put loads on it, and then do a section Analysis using the general stress/strain function, I get the tension in reinforcement for the max capacity of the section as shown below. Can I get the value of the tensile force in the tension reinforcement for the applied load (or the ultimate strength required for the applied load) and not the Max capacity strength? Thanks in advance.

regards,

Dimuth

Hi Dimuth,

In the analysis form, if you set the load case but not the capacity then the results apply to the applied load (factored by 1/capacity reduction factor, rather than the ultimate capacity. If you want the forces and stresses related to the un-factored applied load then you can force the capacity reduction factor to 1.0 on the analysis form.

The max/min stresses and strains are given for each material used in the section as can be seen in the tables above the summary of forces. If you need the stresses for each individual bar then you will need to define a different material (with the same values) and assign it to each bar. If you need the stresses in the concrete at different levels than you can split the section into a number of different sections with boundaries at the required stress location and assign different (but the same) materials to each section.

I hope this has answered your question and if so please mark my reply as a solution so that others may benefit. Thanks

Kind regards

Dave Geeves
