Structural Bridge Design 2018 is now available

Autodesk® Structural Bridge Design 2018 is now available to download via the Autodesk® Desktop App or as a 30-day trial.

Interaction Surface Analysis

This release adds Interaction Surface Analysis for design sections which allows 3D interaction surfaces to be calculated for any reinforced concrete section. Each load case applied to the section is plotted, showing both permanent and variable loads. When a load case falls outside of the surface, the line changes color from black to red as shown in the plot below. Interaction surfaces can be exported to a Microsoft® Excel spreadsheet and the results can be viewed as a report which includes a performance ratio for each load case.

Post-tensioned Beam Design to AASHTO LRFD 7

This release includes a new beam design module which allows post-tensioned beams to be designed to AASHTO LRFD 7th Edition with 2016 interims. Multi-span beams can be defined with precast or cast-in-place cross sections. Tendon losses along the beam can be plotted for each tendon.

A printed summary of the losses along each tendon can also be produced along with a more detailed breakdown of the loss calculations.

Post-tensioned design beams can be incorporated in a structural analysis model, with tendons created automatically in the model. Loads can be applied to the model and stages of construction defined to represent tendon stressing, re-stressing and grouting.

After the loads have been analyzed, they can be transferred back to the design beam. The transferred loads include the secondary pre-stress effects from the analysis. Torsion effects are also included to satisfy design code requirements.

The post-tensioned beam can now be designed for each of the load cases and detailed printouts produced of the calculations:

Virtual Members

In this release Composite Members are changed to Virtual Members. A virtual member is a combination of beam elements and finite elements for which a single set of results at any given section at a specified virtual member axis is required. This allows simple results to be produced for complex structural geometry.

AEC Collection

We are also very pleased to announce that Autodesk Structural Bridge Design is now part of the Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection. The collection gives you access to a set of integrated tools and powerful workflows so you can deliver your best work and stay competitive.

Further Information

Full details of the new features and issues resolved with this release can be found in the readme here.

Greetings! i have installed the ASBD 2018 and i am happy for the added features, but is there any reference or books that i can use aside from the manual (not updated) because i am having a hard time following the manual. Also, it would be great if i can acquire any finished project for instructional purposes. i am an educator here. thanks in advance

You may find the following set of videos useful as they demonstrate the new workflow (with embedded design beams in a project):

I would like to point out that the online help is up-to-date.

A new Eurocodes examples manual is being worked on, but there is no release date at the moment. The example projects will be updated as part of this exercise.
