Hi,

Thanks for attaching your data files. I think that your data file (.sst) has been corrupted somehow as I get the same error as you when trying to open it. I have tried a number of different versions - up to the latest (as I didn't know which version the file was created with) and I still get the problem. This makes it difficult for me to reproduce the problem with a second roadway. Do you have a backup copy of the .sst file that was saved before the second roadway was created. I was wondering if you do regular backups that you may get it back from. If this is the case then please attach it so that I can investigate.

Sorry I can't be of more help at this stage but maybe Autodesk may be able to give further advice if they see this post.

Kind regards

Dave Geeves

Hi Dave!

Thank you very much for your time and trying to help! Unfortunately, I can't access the restore from backup file option for this project and, as usual, I didn't do a manual backup this time.

Interestingly, I can see the model in the preview window, but it doesn't open. The model was made in version 2024.

Sincerely, Vladimir

Hi Vladimir,

That must be really annoying! I had a similar thing happen to me today when trying to change the load factors in a load compilation. I changed the number in the table and closed the form with "OK" without first clicking the "enter" key to register my new entry. The program crashed and I couldn't use "restore from backup" as I got the same message as you. I had to start again!! I have been training Structural Engineers in the efficient use of software for several decades and the first thing I teach is to save your work regularly. It has taught me to practice what I preach!! I have my Autodesk account for ASBD set so that when a crash occurs it sends a crash report to Autodesk, so I'm hoping they will see this. I will keep you posted if I hear anything.

I notice from your screen shot that your data file is being stored in the cloud - which is good practice but I have sometimes had problems when analysing a live project from a remote data file as the data transfer of temporary files can sometimes get out of sync. I generally store my data files in the cloud but copy them to a local folder before doing any heavy analysis, and then pasting them back to the cloud manually. It may not be necessary, especially for smaller projects, but for larger jobs it definitely speeds things up and reduces data transfer problems.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Regards

Dave Geeves.

Hi Vladimir

It might be a bit late, but I have managed to repair your file (saved in version 2024.1.3). There was an issue with the second carriageway, so it has been removed.

The lock symbol indicates that the file has read-only attributes set.

The Autodesk Error Reporting system was introduced in version 2024. This system helps us track issues that cause the software to crash unexpectedly. Please submit a report if the software crashes. Many issues were addressed in the 2025 release, and we will continue to monitor the report buckets.
