topic AUTODESK React in Robot Structural Analysis Forum

Hello ,

What Happened to Autodesk React ? a fresh new user interface was ditched away since 2015 !

While all other analysis programs in the market are modernizing their interface in 2022 , Autodesk robot structural analysis is still with the same old interface without any integral updates each year . That's surely a questioning thing from a loyal user with more than 7+ years of experience in Autodesk robot .

@jad_160 ,

Autodesk React is long dead.

I think effectively what happen is that Autodesk deemed Robot to be a NOT economically efficient software for them to invest in a ground up update. Given Robot's profit share compared with other Autodesk products might be as significant, I doubt there will a push from Autodesk to undertake a major update (in the lines of React) for Robot in the near or mid future. So I wouldn't keep my hopes up if I was you.

Thank you for your reply !

I think Autodesk is way too big for not thinking how should they update their analysis tools and strategies since there's still a lot of engineers/students using this program and specially in France. I was just wondering what's their point of view regarding Robot and the future , since we're experiencing a boost in updates for other softwares like Prota , comosys , Scia , dlubal , etc ..

@jad_160 ,

Autodesk for sure its big, one of the biggest software company if anything. But I think the problem is that Robot as a software probably doesn't bring the same amount of users and or profits for Autodesk as some of the other software i.e. Revit, Autocad, Inventor, Advance Steel, etc.

So even if they were to loose Robot all together, I don't think that would affect their bottom line when it comes to profit and market share too much.

Of course, as a user of Robot, would love for Autodesk to invest in Robot and make it a tier one product in the Structural Analysis realm. But based on the history and planned development don't think there is the motivation and or budget from Autodesk to push for a major update. I think we'll be stuck with minor and incremental updates for a long while with Robot, which I suppose is better than nothing.
