I found a workaround. Follow this steps when it is not possible to change the connection type even though it should be:

temporarily change the sections to sections from the EUR database (TCAR for example, do not use RHS or SHS sections from DIN or some other database).

create a connection, the option to change type is now available.

change back the sections to whatever they should be (say RHS sections from the DIN database). This now works.

It would be great to hear from someone more knowledgeable to understand whether this is really the intended behaviour and if the solution I provided above is solid and works every time. Thanks!

There seems to be a bug in the Splice steel connection module. The video I am attaching is self explanatory, but in case it is not clear: there are multiple "Geometry", "Plates", "Connections" tabs to choose from. I hadn't noticed this behavior before, so I assume this does not happen all the time. Also, I noticed that I can't change the connection type to a beam splice in this particular occassion. Is this a known bug? Is there something I can do to solve the issue? I tried restarting the program but it does not solve the issue. I didn't do anything special to trigger this behaviour.

After making some random changes to the model unrelated directly to the affected members), the problem described in the video went away. However, the other issue still persists: I can create a column splice by creating a connection for two SHS150x8 sections, but when I try to do the exact same thing on two horizontal members (beams), the options in the "change connection type" are all grayed out. What could be causing this? I can create a beam splice with the exact same sections when I go to Connections - New Connection, but I want the connection to be linked to the structure.
