How to change color for members

I'd like to change the coloring scheme of the members, but can't really find how to. (Display, Mark with colors, ...)

Colours are assigned to bar types or sections or material ...

The change should be made there

I am also in the same soup of defining a specific color on a few elements on my model. The color schemme on the view function indeed works, but is it completely impossible to select my own color on say two or three sections. May be one or two more members step in here for help.
