Pawel, thank you very much for your reply. As I understand it, if we use the option as in the picture, everything remains as it was in previous versions:

Hello friends from Robot team.

According to "What's new" document, we have some modification in automatic buckling length calculation. Can you give to us more information about it with numerical examples? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

the modification of automatic buckling length calculation in steel design of RSA 2013 results in removing some limits of this feature which exist in previous versions,

General info for others: automatic buckling length is activated in bar parameters using this icon

In 2013 release the length of adjacent members is calculated considering intersections with members only in directions related to specific direction of buckling.

I have shown it on the screen capture below. Automatic buckling length of column 7 about its strong axis is calculated in RSA 2013 considering all length of beam (here bar 1) till intersection (here with column 9) related to this direction of buckling.

In previous versions the algorithm was not able to recognize whether intersection is related to specific direction of buckling and the length of adjacent beams was calculated to the first intersections. It was limiting the usage of automatic buckling length in situation like below - in such case it was necessary tu use buckling length type with manual definition of adjacent beams.

Yes, the change is related only to automatic buckling length and not to internal bracings .
