I have been trying to analyse a steel plate in an historic bridge using RSAP 2012. My problem is that when I go to results>maps>detailed>stresses -s> the stresses seem very low for the applied loads, and crucially the stresses should be symmetrical for a symmetrical structure with symmetrical loading but it is not. I may have made an error in modelling but cannot see what it is. If anyone could give me some pointers I would greatly appreciate it. I cannot attach the Robot file as it is 6.5MB which is greater than the 5.3MB limit, however if someone is willing to look at it and help me I can email it or send by other means. See screenshots for appreciation of structure.

Hi Artur, I tried those settings but still experience the same problem. I have uploaded the RSAP file to filemail as it is 6.5MB so I cannot attach it to this message. If you or anyone else who can spare the time could have a look at it and give any advice I would be very greatful. The file can be downloaded from

https://www.filemail.com/d/zqqiezvakfsqnku for the next 14 days.

Check your mesh . Your curved vertical plates contours don´t match the arched plate contour.

I would divide this arched base plate in 2 and redo its contour based on botton charateristic points of the curved vertical plates.

There are also some mesh problems on the intersection of the curved vertical plates wirh the perpendicular top vertical plate.

Check the " mesh problems" webinars videos on http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/robot-structural-analysis/robot-structural-analysis-webinar-feedback/td-p/5523361
