Hello

Is there any solution which i can put the sections crated in parametric manner to the auto selection list? Could you please help me?

Hi,

No way, but you have the opportunity to use the parametric optimization for steel structures. In the dim group definition, click on the button placed down to the section definition one. I think that this can help you greatly.

Save them in the user section database first. Then you should be able to declare them as any sections from the standard section databases.

Hi,

I would like to ask this question again i.e. how can we assign an auto-select list to steel sections so that the robot design can choose itself the best section based on utilization.

If its the same answer as below, can i get a bit more explanation on how to set up the auto-select list.

I would like to ask this question again i.e. how can we assign an auto-select list to steel sections so that the robot design can choose itself the best section based on utilization.

1. Create your own user section database or decide on saving the user sections in the predefined one

2. Enter a shape of your section in the Section Builder module and calculate its properties

3. Save it in either of the section databases from the point 1 or save the parametric section in the user database in the way I shown in my previous post (then you skip point 2)

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each of sections you want to include in the best section optimization

5. Create a design group for steel design and indicate the above sections as the one you want to choose from

Thanks Arthur.

So if i understand it correctly, i can only do optimization for 'one' section at a time.

Is there a way that i can assign multiple sections to a group and robot gives me the best section for all of them? See attached photos and model for more clarity.

Yes, this can be done. You can mark more than one family (e.g. UC as you did plus UB) or just select the families (not mark the check box but set the family line in blue and then mark selected profiles in the sections field.
