Would checking stresses not be part of the ULS checks ?

Alternatively if you are referring to limiting the stress in the reinforcement for cracking, that should not be checkedas as "Cracking" is unticked in the properties and it also shouldn't be applicable for top reinforcement as the slab will be in compression on this side.

In addition reinforcement maps (see below) indicate generally 0 moments for the top reinforcement.

I am analyzing slab requiered reinforcement. I have noticed that if SLS cases are included even if cracking and deflection checks are turned off additional reinforcement is still added, compared to the ULS only check. What is the reason for this reinforcement?

This is due to checking of stress limits.
