Hi @Artur.Kosakowski

I tried using both sparse and skyline solvers. They did not work.

I am getting a cyclic error relating to the kinematic constraints.

I have changed the calculation coherence settings according to the link below, and remeshed the structure using the coons method.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/robot-structural-analysis-forum/cyclic-reference-problem/td-p/3737643.

This method does not remove the 'incoherent mesh on edges' error even though I have selected 'iterative adjustment of FE mesh'.

So I am still ending up with an error and can not run the analysis.

Please advise.

File attached.

Hi,

Please take a look at the attached screenshot and file.

My model has frozen numerous time during the analysis stage i.e. when it gets to resolution stage.

Out of about 10 attempts its only managed to complete the analysis once. Its frozen at every other attempt.

What do you think the issue is here?

Hi @Anonymous

My assumption is that you have the instability warning dialog hidden 'in behind' which awaits your action. I have calculated your model with no issues after ignoring the reported instability.

Hi @Anonymous

This may happen also when Robot is the application that you manually launched and I know this from my personal experience . If you look at the picture you had originally attached you can see that there are two additional warnings which you can't see unless you croll down. You can check if the instability is on of them.

Try to use ALT + Tab or CTRL + Tab when this happens.

What do you mean by launching the model manually?

I decided to break the model down into two parts - east and west.

The 'western' part of the model ran fine!

The eastern keeps crashing. I've attached the eastern file - please see if you can run it successfully and let me know. I've tried opening in safe mode but no luck.

I've also attached the error report number (I sent the report to Autodesk).

Hi @Anonymous

What do you mean by launching the model manually?

The program

I've also attached the error report number (I sent the report to Autodesk).

The report you sent indicates that the issue you are having was corrected in SP2 for RSA 2017. Please download and install it from here.

Let me know if this worked for you and if there is still a need for downloading and calculating the eastern model. Just in case I have got the original model you had posted the link to model calculated and saved with the results if needed (you may try to run it after installing SP2 as well).

Hi,

Unfortunately not.

We installed the hot-fix as you recommended and ran the model but it still keeps crashing. I've sent a few crash / error reports to Autodesk since the installation of the hotfixes.

Now I'm having to break the model into smaller parts, and try to mesh, and then bring all of them back together using the Merge structure feature.

I'll see if this works.

Hi @Anonymous

You can do based on the selection of surface elements

but let me ask if you could use your original model which I posted the link to in my previous post (it is saved with the results) instead?

They did not work.

I am getting a cyclic error relating to the kinematic constraints.

I have changed the calculation coherence settings according to the link below, and remeshed the structure using the coons method.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/robot-structural-analysis-forum/cyclic-reference-problem/td-p/3737643.

This method does not remove the 'incoherent mesh on edges' error even though I have selected 'iterative adjustment of FE mesh'.

So I am still ending up with an error and can not run the analysis.

Please advise.

File attached.

Hi @Anonymous

I have corrected the meshes and some inaccuracies in position of columns. Attached is the calculated model.

I hope it will help

Thanks @Artur.Kosakowski,

Can you please tell me, how you located the columns with inaccuracies, and how you dealt with the mesh inconsistencies?

I need to bear this in mind as I am building up the model - I have 11 more floors to build up!

Hi @Anonymous

Just using the techniques I demonstrated in the 2nd Robot webinar:

1. Generate meshes (done by you)

2. Freezing meshes

3. Running model generation

4. Checking locations of reported incoherent meshes

5. Moving and merging nodes

6. Repeating steps 3 to 5 till no meshing errors reported

7. Calculating model

8. Checking shapes of deformations (to find columns not attached to floors)

9. Moving and merging nodes

10. Repeating steps 7 to 9 till everything is OK

May take a bit of time depending how accurate the first model was
