Hi mustafa,

I've read the features of Midas Gen 2015 and really shocked by them.In 2010 my friend told me there is a software called Midas let's learn it, it will be some thing big in future. I told him that Midas is a crawling baby against Robot. Now Midas prove itself as the powerful structural analysis software and if the robot still without REAL developments then the robot users will move to Midas.

I think Autodesk has a treasure called RSA but maybe they dont know how much is valuable.Maybe they have to return it to Robobat.

Why Autodesk doesn't develop RSA

Hi All,

As we all love RSA and we hope that to improve it as much as can to fit all our requirements for analysis and design.

I think its time here to evaluate the Autodesk development of RSA . I am attaching here links For what is new in RSA since 2013

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RSAPRO/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-BBAE5E7A-FEF7-4DBC-B855-D7F0B48DDC70

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RSAPRO/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-2A947CFD-8EE8-4C84-98F8-B1324E835E4E

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RSAPRO/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-105E3920-BB99-4AA7-A4B5-CE98B24929A1

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RSAPRO/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-1E96619D-C8A9-4E97-A9C9-8A359A0B107A

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RSAPRO/2017/ENU/?guid=GUID-F1A384F2-CD15-40CF-8F95-A164698C993E

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RSAPRO/2017/ENU/?guid=GUID-5E91EC19-B2E1-4A5A-AF7D-CC382CD24074

Comparing to the development to other softwares as all of us know that we can see that Autodesk doesnt develop RSA to remain it as a leader of all structural softwares which really make us very sad about this result .

Before RSA was containing a lot of options which is not included in any softwares many advantages, but now the other companies develop their softwars and became more advanced than RSA.

Because we are community and we invest in RSA long time ago for more than 10 years (I have RSA license Since 2009 ) I think we have the right to ask why like that and what is Autodesk policy regarding RSA.

Am interested in a response as well. Currently looking to purchase new software for the future and although am a Robot user am uncertain on whether to continue or find other packages that will support code changes and advance the software.

Leaving this unanswered perhaps speaks to the view this is Autodesk's low priority, this has been a great program but is it time to move on....

At least a statement of future support rather than seeing the minimum investment for new releases.

Curious...

Had the weekend to contemplate and feel that some additional thoughts would be appropriate.

We have currently made the commitment to use Revit for going forward in our drafting and coordination, "BIM", previously all work was done in AutoCAD and certainly will have continued overlap as the process develops. This is what prompted me to comment here....

Who better to integrate the structural analysis into Revit than the company responsible for both....there will be challenges to be met....would hope that management would provide the direction and resources to meet those challenges. Part of that would be to provide the end users with some insight into the future of the program and that it is not contemplating removing all support for RSA and leave that to outside vendors to pick up the gauntlet.

This leaves me in the mist of decision making for the company, place my trust in RSA or transition to another software company that is showing commitment to the future. Having found RSA to have been visionary and useful in the past....started before Autodesk purchased the program....want to not negate our past efforts and knowledge. Agree with original poster that no matter how well done the original was it will atrophy with out some commitment. That lack will cause frustration on even those tasked with RSA support for few talented personal will remain motivated in that environment.

This is not a rant rather a plea for some guiding light to be shown, compassion for one whose trying to make an informed decision....

Completely agree with you Mustapha, those développements are minor developements When comparing to the ones that we expecting since the year hère whère Autodesk bougth Robobat, such the improvements in non linear analysis, design by capacity, good modules for reçu modules in particular the séiismic design of RC wall, the design of pile cap, the post tension for prestressed slab, autoloader for bridge analysis, the improvement in the calculation report with code Checking etc etc. I'have used Robot since the 2013 version and at this moment we called it "the Rolls Royce " of the structural softwares

so we hope that there will have some importants improvements for the new realease like you hope it

Hi All,

When I decided to learn Robot midas was a new software.I checked it and I found RSA more advance and Robobat was developing it continuously

That time I thought that the future is for Robot that was in 2004. After 13 years I would like to show you that when the company works hard to develop its software It will make great thing.

I attach here the features of midas 2015 latest version yes its in 2015 at least they are not same Autodesk every year new version but no features or nothing new at all.

I hope that will hit their mind and will make them wake up.

We love Robot.

Its totally right. But modeling with Midas very terriable and also controlling the model and graphics .

Thanks for sharing that @Anonymous

I agree with you. Seeing all those capabilities in Midas reveals lack of development of Autodesk in RSA.

As you people see in that released note, Midas can simulate hysteretic isolators, steel dampers on bracings, that's mind blowing.

The point is Midas is a software for engineers developed by engineers so Autodesk needs to think about that when is trying to developed RSA.

By the way, did you see the RSA 2018.0.1 Hot Fix?

https://up.autodesk.com/2018/RSAPRO/Robot_Structural_Analysis_Professional_2018.0.1_HotFix_Readme.html

I think they missed include all the errors about ACI code that Mustafa revealed on this forum.

I hope Autodesk develops RSA further.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for replying also . Yes its true that Midas fallowing the right way which is to develop its software by army of engineers (300 Engineers )

unlike Autodesk .

I dont know why they treat RSA like that but I think mostly they do that because they are not capable to develop this software or else they have to state the reason for us.

For me I will be happy even to to pay more money for autodesk for RSA subscription with serious development.

So why they dont focus in this point increase the price and make serious development otherwise the software will gone with the wind.

For ACI code problems I think it will take long time to fix it . All structural development team who are working in RSA development before the are working in Forge drive which is the most silly project I have seen it in my life.

Please participate with us in this thread SAve our RSA
