I would like to design and check a masonry wall panel with irregular distribution of openings subjected to vertical and wind loads.

Please, can you suggest the best way to do this?

Thanks

Regards,

Viviana

It's been eight years since those answers. Is there going to be a day when we will see a proper masonry design module?

I have never used robot for modeling masonry walls, but tried to keep it simple. For a shear masonry wall, i rather try to find a possible path of the efforts of compression, while trying to avoid the openings (windows, doors). Once a working model is found, I determine the forces in these fictitious diagonals either manually or by a simple 2D robot model.
A commonly accepted rule is to take the diagonals with a section Ex4E E being the thickness of the masonry
