Phases (Construction Sequences ) Problems + Questions

Hi Guys,

I did Model of 12 floors in order to check the phases and judge it correctly.

For defining the phases and I fallowed the same what @Pawel.Pulak did in this post.

The additional I did is defining another load cases in the final stage Dead ,Live , Wind , and Seismic .

Then I go to result collection of the phases . And I combined the Phases self weight and compared it to SW of all the building one time It look s perfect .

Then I tried to make combinations of this phases self weight with the other loads on phases collection Base phase is the full model phase then I got some problems .

1-When I defined The combinations on the collection phases every time I go back to activate on phase then I back to the collections the combinations is deleted .Is there a way to keep them always?

2-The combinations is getting crazy For example :

If I make commutative self weight combination Then I combine this combination to another load is giving wrong result look only the first phase load activated See Attached pictures.

3-In order to have better control on the model with its results and to get the ability of saving the combinations I decided to save it as sub structure and I got problem again with the results .

Please Advice how we can deal with model with phases to get the commutative self weight combined with other loads in order to use them in design later on .

Hi Mustafa,

answers to various points of your comments.

Ad 1

Combinations defined in the collected phase are lost when repeating phase collection.

It was already in this forum post. Some improvement wish related to it is registered there.

Ad 2

Nested combinations are not supported in the collected phase of phase structures.

It is necessary to use "flat" structure of combinations in such situation - like combination 12002 in the screen capture above.

Ad 3

Saving to substructure is not supported for phase structures.

Many thanks for replying and answering my Questions.

Just want to ask also .

We usually reduce the stiffness of RC members for Ultimate load cases and we have different reduction factors for for service load combinations .

Reduction of cross section moment of inertia .

Is that possible by using Phases ?

I have defined the phases of a structure but the problem is after collecting the phases i can not display the whole structure. Please can you tell the steps to make the sequential analysiso

the structure is a 2D structure and there is an implanted column on a beam and i want to read the results on this beam

Could you please enlighten me about the procedure to combine phases analysis with seismic design.

shall I convert the combination SW and DL to masses? or each SW of the floor separately.

is the any video relating to this issue?
