Hi @Anonymous

You may consider moving the panel contour's corners to the positions along the defined straight bars.

Dear All,

I would design an arc beam, but I do not know how to merge 9 bars in one. I have tried the Rafal.Gaweda addin ( merging bars) but it does not work for not aligned bars.

Could you suggest me something please?

Hello

why do you want to merge then.

Even not you can do the calculation you want as if you only have one single curved beam.

I dont think you can do it...You would have only two nodes...

Hi @Anonymous

I may also have another thing you can do:

Model the stair or the curved thing that is supported on the beam then replace the beam by a linear hinged support.

Then you can take the integral value (longitudinal force / Unit length) of the linear support reactions in all directions and model the beam as line with those reactions as inverted loads upon the beam.

That way you can use the RC element design Module to design that beam with the loads.

To calculate required reinforcement you can try this approach but distribution of reinforcement bars or calculations of cracked deflection will not be possible.

Hi @Anonymous

I'd say this depends on the actual bend radius of the beam and additional effects it creates (torsion).

If you want to have reinforcement bar distribution generated (and torsion is negligible) you may decide to 'replace' the curved beam with the straight one.

Hi @Anonymous

First I created a straight beam between the end nodes of the arch beam. Then created the same number of nodes along its length as the number of nodes for the arch beam pieces and deleted the arch beam. Finally I moved the corners of the panel contours to the nodes I created along the straight beam by clicking two times on the panel corner and dragging it to a new location.
