Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have built a model in which the external perimeter walls are made up of concrete RC walls based on a constant thickness with reduced stiffness. However, to form openings in all these panels I have used the panel opening tool and done in each of the panels. this is nothing different from what I have done previously. However the opening is in the panel and can be seen and highlighted in RSA. However, when I view the mesh in the panel the complete opening is meshed over for some reason? (see attached 6 snapshots). The model has run Ok and you can view results etc, and there are no error messages in the model stating this. However, I am slightly worried now that my results may be incorrect? due to this. Has anyone ever come across this before? if so how was it fixed and did it cause an error in results/load takedown. Anyone's help on this would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Simon.

Rafael,

Thanks for looking at this, see download link to file below. its a large model file, as I have also included results file. the strange thing is on the internal wall panels with openings it is doing the same thing as in meshing over openings as initial I thought maybe I the opening off the square from the plane of the panel, but the panel opening is formed in the panel. I have looked at previous models which I had saved as I was doing this model i.e. saved model at intervals and the model which was created previously does not have this issue so it seems to have only happened when the last time I ran the model.

Download link
https://we.tl/t-pBXCQwKK1A

Simon.

Try to run detailed correction indicating three corners of the building's wall plane (two outer bottom corners of the side panels at each side and one outer at the top) and then run local meshing for these panels.

Artur,

Thanks for your help on this. I have done as you said for just one panel, and it worked when i then froze all mesh and rerun the calculation model. I have reviewed the new foundation loads and they seem to be slightly less than when the model had the meshing over the openings so it should be ok design wise, it could be that none of the openings were accounted when the openings were meshed over and thus the dead load was higher.

Is there any reason why this happened in the first place? As i add each opening on each individual panel to try and ensure its on the same plane as the wall plane. However sometimes when a buildings walls are skewed on plan it can be diffcult to get the panel face on elevation, is there a easy way to do this? Same goes for panel cuts, if a panel is at a skew when making a panel cut, should the panel cut direction be in the x or y direction as it usually in the xy direction.

Simon.

Just to clarify in case anyone else comes across the issue.

1. I used the detail correct tool as noted above on one panel only.

2. Then i meshed out all the wall panels with openings again.

3. Freeze all mesh

4. Rerun the calulation model.

5. There were some further incoherent mesh areas to be sorted which i sorted by looking at them indiviually and freezing mesh.

6. Then model worked ok when calaulations run.

Simon.

That solution works, however - is there any tip to run detailed correction sucessfully for all the panles in the model at once?
