topic Steel connection design - Pinned column BP, unable to offset column&anchors in Robot Structural Analysis Forum

Hi ALl

Trying to do a simple design check on a pinned column base with an axial force and shear force in X and Y. Probably an easy one but I seem unable to offset the column and anchors relative to the base plate. The option remains grayed out and I can't figure out how to do it - I've looked through the manual and done a general search through the forums and interwebs.

Design intent is shown in screen-grab below

Model is attached with my attempt - anyone spot what I am missing?

Thanks

Not possible to offset the column.

You can do it with finite element;

In your exemple keep in mind that -285 kN is a compression effort

@Simau Thanks for the swift response. Noted on the forced, will switch so its a tension force 🙂

Seems disappointing unable to model connections such as these as they are fairly common, this is a gable end column, whilst the other columns in the building have more 'regular' spacing/arrangement of column and anchors.

EDIT: it seems possible to offset using the fixed base plate connection..I will use that and not enter any moments 🙂

Actually still not possible to offset column using fixed column baseplate module... at least with EC3...
