Moment capping plate connection on steel columns

Hi everyone,

I am new to autodesk and only just purchased the AEC collection so go easy on my 🙂 .

I am basically interested to see if I can model, analyse and design a standard capping plate moment connection for

a simple goal post in Robot. I am attaching a snapshot of it. Not that fussed about the specific sizes of beam and column but rather the principle. Capping plate, extended end plate, stiffeners, bolts and welds in one connection without having to export the node to Idea Statica.

Yes It's possible, you can modelize what you want with robot.

But it needs some skill and a bit of practice

Thanks for the response. It takes me less than 1 minute to model it in 3d sketchup. Just wanted to make sure that anything that can be modelled in sketchup, can also be modelled, analysed and designed in robot.

Thanks for the response. Would you use this type of connection the other way around too? I can't help but notice that this still has the beam connected to the flange of the column and what i am interested in is to have the beam on top of the column.

In Robot it is the same connection, whether it is the beam on the column or the column on the beam.
You just have to choose the bar number in the combobox.
