don't know your workflow, but you actually might want to consider not making this a family and looking into Design Options and/or Model Groups in a Revit project model. You will be able to sue the Revit Wall/Door/Opening/etc... content in the project and then group it to make copies or use design options to show different variations of the layout.

Hi,

I have started learning Revit and have a questions.

I've created multiple modules in a family template. I really wanted them in a project template. How do I separate them into individual modules in project?

Ummmmm... lesson learned i guess 😊.

you cant Copy/Paste from a Family to a Project

you cant Bind the family like you can a RVT Link

you cant Drop the family like you can a CAD Link

unless there is something I'm missing, I don't think there is much you can do but redraw it in a project model.

What about creating a save as for each module and then bring them in as components into project template? Can that be work arounds solution?

"I've created multiple modules in a family template. I really wanted them in a project template."

i may have misunderstood. Did you want each module to be a separate family that you can insert into a project? Or did you mean to draw them as modeled content in a Project (wall, floor, etc...)?

You cant Save-As an RFA to a RVT. you may be able to save each component out as a separate family though. which are you trying to do ?

Yes, I am trying to create separate (module) family that you can insert into a project. But I created all the module types in one family template.

ok... a couple things you can do then.

if they are Groups, you can go to the Group category in your project browser, right click on htem and save as to a family.

If these are different "types" of the same family... add constraints and make them Types in the family.

in the family you would have one "box", with dimensions, and a bunch of Types where the dimensions are different for each Type.

Thanks for your patience with this issue of mine. The difference is not the size it's the interior walls with openings and wall configuration. So I am thinking if I save as the family template I already created with all the types. As module 1 and erase all the others one and so on with each type. I will have a family for each type. Will that work?

You are trying to hack it. It is not healthy trying to hack something while you are still "learning the ropes".

Load that family in a project and recreate walls/floors/roofs/etc. based on the family geometry.
