check the parameter of Density and it's named the same way you define it and it's category as a parameter is correct

if you could attached the file would be more beneficial to check "just small part o it"

I'm currently working on a logistics plan with the use of a structural REVIT model. The final location of our tower cranes will be based on the weights of the structural members. The easiest way to do this, by adding the weight to Tag on a framing plan.

Part A; Calculating the framing and creating a schedule was fairly easy. I used the link below for as a crash tutorial.

https://mgfx.co.za/blog/building-architectural-design/how-to-calculate-structural-members-weight-in-revit/

OK, here's where I'm locked up. I try to apply the same formula (Density/1)*(Volume/1) to the Structural Framing Tag when go through the edit the Tag family But I end up with an error:

" The following is not a valid parameter: Density" "Note that parameter names are case sensitive."

I tried following the same approach as the tutorial on the link below, but I don't think Room Tags and Structural Framing Tags work the same.

https://www.ideateinc.com/blog/2016/04/pushing-calculated-values-to-tags-using

Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Density is a property of Materials, not Structural members. You would need to add a shared Density type parameter and enter the value manually in order to make the formula work.

I'm not sure if I'm following you, Formula works within the actual structural model. It's when I open the TAG family where it doesn't. As for the share parameters, are you thinking that i need to export the density parameter from the model and import it into the TAG family?

I took a screen shot of the parameter just to make sure it was copied exactly, and it still did not work.

I uploaded a group of structural members from the Structural Model for you to take a look.

Thanks,

For anyone interested - I was able to figure out a solution that is currently working:

-I changed the calculated values and got away from Density values. I used a "standard" integer of "490 lb/ft^3" understanding that there will be a delta +/- the final results which is ok for my study.

-In the "Edit Family Tag" I used the "Weight" Parameter Calculated Value: (490)*(Volume/1 CF)

Good Luck! Any input would be greatly appreciated!
