Hi,

Using Revit 2023. Not a Revit user but needing to insert point cloud

I've imported the CAD topo and used it to set the reference point (X, Y, Z). Also made it as the same as the origin in the point cloud.

All looks ok to this point in plan view. However if I look at the east view, the z value of the point cloud does not line up with the topo survey.

Any ideas how to resolve this? I can move it up or down but how do I get an accurate location.

Thanks in advance.

If the point cloud and CAD file share the same coordinates bringing them in on the same Level in Revit using Origin to Origin it should align.

when inserting are they being placed in the same level/plan?

If you create a new CAD file and link in both Site Plan and Point Cloud are they aligned?

Could you Bind them into that file, save it and use it as a test to see if the come in in the correct place in Revit.

If the greyed out origins (linked models) overlay the host Revit model then everything is aligned.

Therefore you should open an elevation and move the Point Cloud to the correct location.

This may help and ensure the updates are installed.

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Issue-with-Point-cloud-import-positioning.html

That's what my thoughts were, but how to get this accurately. There's millions of points, I don't see any way of making sure its more accurate than moving up x distance and it being close.
