There have been several previous posts about this exact same scenario with no exact solution unfortunately.

But to make sure it is not a common mistake when moving between Architectural and Structural elements the following approach is probably better to be ruled out at this stage so apologies if you already know this.

Architectural columns go by default up from the base level, while structural columns go down from the base level (see your screenshot).

The result is that when you place a structural column often the column is below your view arange and not visible.

So normally you would modify your view range (temporarily) so that your columns are visible or, if wanted, modify the direction of the columns to height.

Hi everybody,

not sure how to deal with this issue. I'm in a plan view below the (0,0,0). In that view i try to insert a structural column in elevation mode constrained to the ground floor. In this case i wasn't able to visualize the preview. Am i wrong?

Unfortunately I know this behaviour.

The problem is in a level below the 0 elevation, try it and you should notice a different behaviour.

Something like i tried to explain in the previous post.

<video-js data-video-id="6337600754112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)

Hi i can repeat the exact same issue here on 2024 and 2023 and check back to 2021 the same issue.

It appears a visibility bug on the initial column placement and then shows as expected for any additional columns

That's correct only for an unconnected mode placing, if you try to connect to other above levels it continues to be invisible. So I think I understand it's a display bug. Thanks for you reply. Should I mark as solved?

Not really sure, there is not definitive solution to this as far as researching the topic so if its recognised as a little inconvenient bug then that's what it is recognised as such.
