Subject: Need help with finding structural connections in Revit software 2024

I hope this email finds you well. My name is Bhavana Adiga, and I am a user of Revit software 2024. I am reaching out to you because I am having trouble finding the structural connections in the software.

I have searched in the software itself, but I couldn't locate the feature. Additionally, I also extensively browsed the internet as well but it seems to be missing there as well.

Could you please assist me in finding the structural connections in Revit software 2024? I would greatly appreciate

Hey.. Thank you for your reply. But I'm not able to find anything under

Im not sure what content library I need to download to get those missing connections.

You need to install the library content to allow the steel connections to work, also you may find you need to install the advance steel extension as well.

I seem to recall I had to do both to get the steel content working.

The steel connections in revit use a combination of revit and advance steel elements to create the connections.

This process has be the same for several years now, there is no change, only they use a load of library models and Dynamo to create multiple instances of the same connection type.

@jay_colc : That small button doesn't work for me either in Revit 2024.3. Standard steel connections are .rfa family files located in .../Families/Structural Connections/Steel/. It doesn't work for me because the are located on a common folder on te company server, not on my local machine. It seems you have to load those families in your project to work.

Update: I copied those families locally, still doesn't work. Maybe i have to install the Structural Connections package from the Revit install kit.

One point to note here!

There are Structural Connection Families which are loadable families like any other Revit families and found in the Standard Families Library!

Then there are Structural Connections in the Connection Container that are generated using automated scripts that build the Connection based on input information and more hard coded and complex!

As regards your comment - That’s completely normal understandable as there is a default path location and if it cannot find them then obviously it cannot list or load them! You can edit the Family Library Path in Options to the Server Location!
But for Automated Connections this may be different!

On the point of missing connection in the connection Container - Other have had joy installing the Advanced Steel Extension as it has lots of references in common and can be found in your Autodesk Account

How to download the Advance Steel Extension for Revit

Advance Steel Extension for recent versions of Revit can be found here:

Go to your Autodesk Account.
On the left side, select "All Products and Services".
Select "Revit" product.
Select the desired version.
Select the tab "Extensions".
Scroll down to select "Advance Steel Extension for Revit [version]".
Download it.

Note: An account admin may need to allow access to the extension: Assign product access

I have installed the Steel Connections add-in and all related components; however, I am still unable to find any plate families available for import. I have also attached the file path for the Steel Connections folder, but it appears to be empty.

Kindly assist if anyone knows how to resolve this issue.
