How to create or modify a J-Hook / U-Hook Anchor Bolt Family in Revit?

Hi everyone,

I am trying to model a specific type of anchor bolt in Revit, as shown in the attached image (it has a distinct hooked/looped end for embedding in concrete).

However, I cannot find any default anchor types in the Revit library that match this shape.

I would like to ask the community:

1. Is there a way to modify the existing default anchor bolt types in Revit to achieve this hooked shape?

2. Or do I need to create a custom Family (e.g., using a Generic Model or Structural Connection template) from scratch to model this?

If creating a custom family is the best route, I would highly appreciate any tips or best practices on how to set up the parameters for the hook length and diameter.

If you are using the connection in steel tab it will be difficult to adjust as it's a list of the available anchors.

If you are using the normal modeling way, I would recommend the following:

1. Start from a default anchor family in the library like ("C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2020\Libraries\US Metric\Structural Connections\Mounting Parts\Anchor Bolts\M_Bolt HPM-L.rfa")

2. Adjust the family as you need for shape and parameters "the above shape will need a sweep form"

3. Test the parameters in the family

4. load the family in a project and test again
