Hello all,
I have a 7 story model. on the basement level, all my grids are showing. As I move up to other levels the grids start disappearing. By the time I get to level 5 only 2 of about 45 grid lines and bubbles show. I can't just replace them because it says the name already exists. What should I do? I really don't want to delete all of them and start over. I am monitoring them with the architectural model and I have all the dimensioning done on the lower 2 levels. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.
In order for a grid to be visible in a plan view, the 3d extents of the grid
must intersect the level. In a section or elevation view of the entire
building make sure the extents of the grids are corssing all of the levels.
If you need the grid annotation to not cross the level for graphic reasons
you can click the end point of the grid marker to toggle if you are
controling the 3d extents (affects visibility everywhere) or 2d affects
where the grid is indicated for this view only.

Hope this information helps resolve the situation.
Thanks you so much, That fixed the issue. The levels changed by 100', so when that happened the grids did not intersect all levels. I went to the elevations and just pulled them up. Now they show up on all plans. I really appreciate the help.

Take care
Jeff,

Might I make the observation that this is one of the first confusing things
that OOTB Revit hit us with?
Yes, it is an easy fix (boy, I wish everything else that followed had such
easy solutions), but even so, such behavior is NOT intuitive, IMO, NOR is
the fix. (Strictly logical, perhaps, but NOT intuitive.)

Perhaps the programming team could consider that when I add new levels to my
structure, I'd probably like to see the grids as well? Suggestion: Lock the
things to XX' above and below the top-most and bottom-most levels,
respectively, until I say otherwise.

Not to change the subject, but some sort of Coordinate Display (and ID-like
command feedback) would be a big plus as well. I'll leave it at that,
though I suspect such requests are not something new.

Revit seems to revel in keeping the user from knowing where anything truly
is.
This gets to be rather tiresome - and after awhile, it's very tempting to
start looking elsewhere.
I understand your concerns with the functionality of these features. Like
you have already stated these requests have been made in the the past and
the development team is aware of these issues. Thank you for your feedback.

Old thread, but still an issue. The workaround:

1. uncheck the "crop view" for all the plan views / levels

2. open a plan view / level and make sure all the grids are "3d" (click on a grid and adjust the "2d" / "3d" as needed

3. adjust the grids so that they all align and that they move as a group

4. propagate the grids to the rest of the plan views / levels

5. check the "crop view" for all the plan views / levels

HOK has a short post on this:

HOK Propagate Extents for Grids

If grids are visible in other same level views then try changing Scope box of grids to None.

Thank you. I had my grids attached to a scope box and had to undo that before I could start adjusting them. Extending them in the 3D view down into the level I needed solved the issue.
