Hello all,

why do we have Shedule and material take off in revit ?

both give me same output

Not really they are not the same although at certain instances they might look like they give/produce the same outcome. For instance, some of the basic differences are

material takeoff schedules provides more detail on the sub-components or materials of any Revit family.
MTO have all the functionality and characteristics of other schedule views, but in addition they allow you to show more detail about the assembly of a component rather than just generality
Any material that is placed in a component (example: the various layers/parts of a wall) can be scheduled. Although Quantity/Schedules can do parts schedule; however, it is not similar or the same and parts do not apply to all
In a Material Takeoff schedule, you get access to parameters such as "Material:Area" "Material: Cost" "Material: manufacturer...etc" which you don't have access to in the normal quatity/schedule.
The more definit and precise your material assignments and definitionsare, the more accurate the material takeoff schedule is...the less accurate you are the more Material Takeoff becomes like the Quantity Schedule
When you prepare estimates in Revit (if you don't do that on another app/software) you use Material Takeoff not Quantity/Schedules
...lots of other difference but I think this should give a general picture

Material takeoff schedules list the sub-components or materials of any Revit Architecture family. Material takeoff schedules have all the functionality and characteristics of other schedule views, but they allow you to show more detail about the assembly of a component. Any material that is placed in a component within Revit Architecture can be scheduled.
Note When Revit Architecture computes the volume of materials for individual layers within a wall, some approximations are made to maintain performance. Minor discrepancies might appear between the volumes visible in the model and those shown in the material takeoff schedule. These discrepancies tend to occur when you add a sweep or a reveal to a wall, or under certain join conditions.
