On windows I normally use a PDF Printer. Often I use PDF Creator (Free, Open Source). There are several other (free) options that people tned to use like CutePDF.

Note: Not installed one of the PDF printers lately. So before installing do a virusscan and when installing (free) software use expert settings to make sure that no 'ad/crapware' gets installed with it

I have a Macbook Pro and use Paralells to access Revit. I just downloaded Revit 7 and I do not have the ARCH plot sizes in my pdf options. Does anyone know how to add them? My pdf options for printing are "Microsoft Print to PDF" and "Print to PDF (Mac)." Neither option allows me to add custom print sizes when I go into their properties.

I also have Acrobat Pro on my Mac, but I don't think I can access that from the Paralells site (?). Any help would be greatly apprciated!

sk

@sarahkuchar

The built in "Microsoft Print to PDF" in windows is not really designed for applications such as Revit; it is more Microsoft Products oriented where it either uses the default paper sizes or that of the document in word/excel/powerpoint...etc...Print to PDF on Mac works pretty much the same; however, that feature to save document's set size in page setup does not extend to all softwares.

If you want to print from Windows VM u can install any of the open source free PDF converts @L.Maas mentioned

CutePDF

PDF converter; there is also

DoPDF <<<-----

PDF Architect <<<----

All appear to be quite reliable and many use them (personally I am using Adobe PDF which came with Adobe Acrobat Pro before the subscription era; so I cannot really say I tested any)

Anyways the above isn't anything new!!! what I wanted to add is actually the following:

If you have Adobe Acrobat PDF printer/converter which comes with Adobe Acrobat Pro on you MAC OS, you can try use Printer Sharing to enable printing from Windows Virtual Machine on MacOS installed printers.

Unfortunately I am no longer using a Mac so I cannot verify/test it with Adobe PDF printer BUT it used to work previously with all other printers installed on MacOS.

PART 1

In Mac OS, open System Preferences > Sharing

In Services enable the Printer Sharing service.

Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Sharing

Make sure that your printer is enabled in the Share these printers with other computers list.

(Recommended) ensure that the printer driver on MacOS side is able to print properly (ie: print a test page).

Open virtual machine CONFIGURATION - SEE LINK HERE IF YOU DON"T KNOW HOW

Switch to the Hardware tab > Print and make sure the "Add all Mac printers" check-box is empty.

PART 2

In Windows VM download and install APPLE BONJOUR FOR WINDOWS

When Bonjour installation is complete, start Bonjour Printer Wizard on your Windows desktop.

Click Next >> Select printer from the Wizard's Shared Printers list >> click Next to select driver >> Click Finish and try printing any document using the Bonjour printer instead

You might need to check Firewall settings on the MacOS side (System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall tab) and either open the necessary ports or turn the FW off if it is blocking the ports Bonjour uses.

Hope this helps
