Hello everyone! I have an issue with joining geometry of beams and walls. I trying to join wall with beam to calculate wall volume and area.
On screenshot i have 3 beam families: two of them (middle and right) is autodesk family of concrete beam and they are joining perfectly. On the left i have my timber beam and it`s not joining dont matter what i do. Im even tried to set same properties of timber beam as concrete but it not working. Is there any way to solve it?

Hi bro,

If the timber beam is not perpendicular to the wall, it might not join properly. Ensure that the angle at which the beam intersects the wall is correct

Thanks you for your reply! But i dont think that angle is the issue. As you can see if we turn wireframe mode on it wil show that cocrete beams actually cut the wall and timber dont

@temapavluchenko Some items will join with content, but others won't. For example, a steel i-beam works the same way as the Dimensional Lumber. but if I modify the material in the family, and place a new item, I can sometimes get it to cut or not cut.

The column on the far right has been set to be assigned a Steel material, with a Steel Asses material assigned, vs Concrete. The "concrete" column now penetrates the wall (the wall is brick on metal stud, no concrete in it). i can get the steel to do the same thing, but if you edit a steel framing family, it has 2 extrusons in it. one for High and one for Medium detail. if you delete the Hight detail one and set the Medium to display in all detail levels, the steel will break at the wall.

i can get the steel to do the same thing.... If you edit a steel framing family, it has 2 extrusions in it. one for High and one for Medium detail level. if you delete the Hight detail one and set the Medium to display in all detail levels, the steel will break at the wall. I hope i explained that properly 😁.

I dinked with it a little more and found the real issue.... for this to work though you will have to edit the families you want to work this way.
