I am interested in changing the material or the visual properties of all of the elements, rather than just altering the view in Revit. I need to export the updated model into another software that has little to none visual settings for the imported 3D model, so I have to adjust the material setting of the original model itself.

Is there a way to remove all material assignment from the model? Or a way to assign all elements of the model to the same material? What I am after is a building model that is uniformly grey in color. Any ideas?

If you just want it to look all grey in a view you can create a filter and apply it to the view then override the pattern to be solid grey.

A filter something like below would probably work.
