MOVE COMMAND DEFAULTS TO COPY

This has been an annoying bug for a long time.

When trying to move a view on a sheet, Revit thinks I am trying to copy the view and gives me the following error "Selection cannot be copied.
Multiple instances of the same view in sheets not supported." This happens every time I try to position a view using a guide grid so it makes guide grids completely useless.

Moving lines does not give this error. I have tried the shortcut key command for move and selecting the move command from the ribbon and it thinks I am trying copy.

Turn off 'Disjoin' tick mark while in 'Move' command. See the screencast

you need to disable the option "Drag Element on Selection"

This has been going on on one of our pcs for a while now. The solution does not work on this. Any update on this?

We use Revit 2020.

this does not work. still get the same error. Revit 2020. Using the Move command on views generates the "views cannot be copied" error. Doesn't seem to be consistent. Sometimes restarting revit seems to correct the issue. Very inconvenient when working on large projects that take a long time to open back up.

I have managed to find a solution on my computer. I've been using Revit on my Mac using Parallels and the issue was because of a conflict using another application called 'PopClip'. (PopClip appears when you select text with your mouse on your Mac.)

The solution for me, was simply to tell PopClip to ignore Revit.

I had the same issue and then realized that I had "Disjoin" option checked after selecting the move tool. Try to uncheck "Disjoin" Option after selecting the move tool. It fixed the issue on my side , wish that it's the same with you.

Thank you, thank you! The disjoin box was checked for me too. Unchecking it fixed the problem. This has been an annoying issue for years.

I think this is the correct solution, but the issue still links to a different "solution" which doesn't seem to work.

This "solution" does not work. I believe the response from @sureshchotrani gets it right, though.

This solution worked for me. Was still getting this in 2023. Didn't know that Disjoin affected the process. Turned it off and problem solved.
