I am designing a 70x30m RCC slab with maximum rebar of 12m, using my slab as my reinforcement area. I would like an overlapping of 600mm min between each bar.

How can i set up and control the overlapping of my rebars?

AP

Unfortunately you have to do it yourself.

you can use Area Reinforcement for 12 m long and draw another Area reinforcement for the rest with overlapping.

Also you can use Rebar in slab section view and draw the rebar with overlapping.

That's what i thought. I found quite frustrating that Revit doesn't have this option; lapping rebar is so commonly done when it comes to RC.

I'll probably use one of Autodesk extension that provides this feature.

Thanks for your help anyways.

Hi @Anonymous, @Anonymous,

Sofistick could not split rebar inside area reinforcement. You have to remove the area reinforcement system in order to split it using Sofistick.

We stopped using split rebars though as it isn't a good workflow.

We do it like in Autodesk Structural Detailing:

We place the rebar with its exact length - cover. Like a bar with length of 24m50 with Ø16 is scheduled with a formula so it gives us the correct length in the BBS: 2x overlap of 80cm: 26m10.

See the difference between modelled length and calculated length:
