topic Beam Annotation Issues in Revit Structure Forum

Hi All,

I can't tell if "Beam Annotations" is the best or worst tool in Revit. On a good day, most of the beams will annotate. Some days only some will and at other times, I get nothing. Sometimes I'll have the same beam, same offset, just feet away from each other and one will annotate while the other doesn't. Same with spot elevations. What is the workflow to ensure that beams annotate as needed? Is there a toggle I need to have ON/OFF? I'm trying to champion our office's shift to Revit based design, but the myriad issues like this are making it a hard sell.

Thanks for any input!

Do you mean Structural Framing Tag or Beam System Symbol?

Both the Structural Framing Tag and the Beam Elevation tag only seem to work intermittently. Most of the time I can just copy a Structural Framing Tag from one beam that displays it to the others that don't have one. That, however, does not work with Beam Elevation tags.

Thanks

Here's an example of what's happening (below). The three that actually show their annotation are all offset from their associated level, one higher than the others. All beams are 'girders'. All beams are horizontal, structural, wood. Why won't they all annotate?!?!? Any info. is much appreciated!

I have no problems tagging the beams and placing spot elevations. You can temporary change the view to Medium or Fine to place the spot elevations, when done change it back to Coarse.

See attached file (Structural Roof Framing Plan) and screencast. I did not relocate all the spot elevations properly but you get the point.

Hmmmm, I can't seem to replicate your outcome. "Tag All" only tagged 1/3 more than "Beam Annotation", but still less than half. Additionally, two of them disappear when I change my detail level back to Course! I may need to repair my install or something similar. I appreciate your time and effort to look at this problem.

Thanks!

There are separate tabs in the beam annotations tool for horizontal and sloping beams. These both need to be populated with tags.
