How do I show a door which does not reside in a wall? I just need to place a door near some guard rails for visual representation.

There is a magical trick that I've learnt from the legendary Paul F. Aubin.

Please follow attached screencast to know how to convert a door into non hosted family.

Otherwise, search the internet for gates families.they will be ok in your case.

2.5 years later - thank you for posting this. I found this useful and solved my problem! and after testing - YES it will show up in the schedule.

+3 years later:

I got stuck at 1:14 "Copy Monitor - Copy Door" - I can't Copy the door - just the wall is selected, and later when I delete Copied element - no door is left...

Now I am not sure if I am doing something wrong (highly unlikely given the great step-by-step tutorial) or something is changed in REVIT in last few years?

Two more years later...

Still works in 2025. Be careful not to skip the step of converting the door family to an MEP family (electrical equipment, mechanical equipment). REVIT allows copy/monitor of MEP objects but not door objects (at least not without their walls).
