This floor object can be “joined” to the walls. If you don’t want to see this floor, you can place this floor on a new workset and hide it in all views by default. Then model the actual grating you want to see. This is handy when the cut is larger than the actual grating, as you can create what ever size cut you want with the floor object that gets hidden. The void family solution can be a pain sometimes if there are many cuts to be made.
