Good day

I just started using Revit for rebar detailing.

I placed 8 shape code 41 bars (cracked bars) in a column with 4 EF, but i placed each one as a single bar and not a group of bars.

Now I am trying to tag them, and my tag only references a single bar at a time (ie. 1-Y25-13)

Is it possible to tag these bars to read 4-Y25-13 while they are placed as single bars in the cross section? The bar marks are the same for all 8 bars.

Bar mark 19 bars in the attached picture was placed as a group of bars in the cross section.

You are tagging single bars in your example.

This is how tagging in Revit works, it references the properties of the tagged element.

My recommendation is to use rebar sets.

More on that here

In some views (like sections or views parallel to the bar plane) you can also use Multi-Rebar Annotations

Hi Ovidiu

Thank you for the response.

My challenge is that I am placing 4 bars EF of a column, but they are not at a regular spacing, so I cannot use Fixed Number or Maximum Spacing to place my bars. (4 bars placed at 150, 175, and 150 mm apart)

Can you advise what a more appropriate way to place bars that are not at equal spacing in a section is, so that my tags can reference the set of bars EF in an elevation view?

Currently the only way place those bars (with unequal spacing) is the way you did it, 1 by 1.

What I can recommend in your example is maybe not show the number of bars in the elevation (if this is acceptable to you), but show the type and rebar number. You can show them in the section view through the column using Multi-Rebar Annotation.

You can do this by editing the rebar tag > editing the label > adding removing the parameters that you need plus the adequate formatting.

Hi

Eventually I figured out how to get a rebar tag to add up the total number of bars of the same bar mark without having to only place bars in groups.

You will have to use the Multi-Rebar Annotation tool and edit the tag family. Change the "Quantity" parameter in the tag label to "Dimensions: Count". "Dimensions: Count" adds up the number of bars that you select with same bar mark when you use the Multi-Rebar annotation tool. You can do this in any view so it should work with any type of element/ arrangement as well.

Let me know if this is clear or if you need more guidance.
