Is there a way to have a SMART Graphic Scale in Revit? Whereby, it is married to the views scale?

So that, if you change the scale of the view, the graphic scale will also adjust?

Any insight on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

David

i can place a dumb graphic scale on a plan view. however, there is a potential for error. if you change the scale of the view - a dumb graphical scale will not update. Therefore, continuous baby-sitting of the graphical scale is necessary.

A smart Graphical scale needs to be married to the views scale setting. doable???

This topic has been discussed before. The way Revit handles view scales (viewports) and annotative objects makes this difficult, if not impossible with the current abilities, at least as far as I can tell.

If someone has figured it out, I would guess they would post a solution.

You can create a graphics scale detail (not generic annotation) family, drawn correctly to size, and place it in the view. You may need more than one family if your views varies from very small to very large scales.

I just included graphic scales of common scales on the border of my titleblock family and called it a day.

ToanDN - "I just included graphic scales of common scales on the border of my titleblock family and called it a day".

yes, i've thought about this. i'd just have to convince a few dozen clients to allow it to live in their border. Some clients get very picky with their border.

Thanks!!

David
