Right, so I'm trying to create a void sweep for a Structural slab to have basically a chambered edge, which is fine, until I get to a 19 degree turn, and then it won't let me form the sweep as either, the angle is too small I'm assuming. Is there any way to work around this? PLEASEEEEEE tell me someone knows what I'm on about/ how to solve this, it's been driving me mental for the past 5 hours! (I know once the void is created i need to use the cut tool to cut it from the slab, but I can't even create the void)

I think that the object turns on itself. Basically you ask that Revit removes (or adds) pieces were already things have been removed. Revit does not know how to handle this. What you might try to do is to do it ins two steps (two void sweeps)

Thanks for a quick reply, Louis!

I also tried this, but where the two intersect it completely screws up the joint and makes a completely deformed shape, and also the 19 degree angled bit cuts back too far into the 50mm cover I have going all the way around 😞

Any other advice?

I've also tried doing this same method to a concrete beam, to no avail, and even creating my own family, all of which have been successful when the sweep is perpendicular, but as soon as I make it a 19 degree angle just fails miserably!

The only other way around is to try to make it additive. What you are doing now is taking away stuff. Try it the other way around. Build up your parts by adding stuff to it.

Revit tools are not made for the finer modelling. It just does not have the algorithms to solve what you are asking it. Revit is always meant for the simplified versions of real life objects. This to keep projects manageable.

You will see that software like inventor have much more tools an functions to deal with these kind of things. However these software are more geared to smaller things (e.g single machine), not complete buildings.

Sorry, Revit Whisperer! Not what I was after 😞 I opened the video with great hope! If you see the pictures I attached, you'll see the profile of the Unit I'm trying to do and along what path. it sits within a PC unit 250mm wide and 1150mm deep, (length isn't important) but one side is 90 degrees whilst the other side comes in on itself by 19 degrees, which is where I'm having a problem. 😞

See the video in the URL below

This should give a better idea of what I'm trying to do, maybe I'm not explaining it very well. The first unit shows what I'm trying to do, within a rectangular shaped PC unit, and Revit has no problem doing this. The second unit is what I need to do, where depth and width of the unit are the same, but on one side, instead of being 90 degrees edge it comes in on itself by 19 degrees, and then won't cast the unit. I need this to stay within the confines of the shape (no protrusions) hence why I can't add a piece that shape ontop as it protrudes from one or more sides? Am I making any sense to anyone?? 😞

https://autode.sk/2OlOvAy
