I'm having the same problem. I've got a spliced column offset from Grid A-12 by 121mm. For some reason, the bottom half of the column (254 UC) records the location mark as "A-12" whilst the top half (203UC) shows "A-12(121)" which is correct. Weirdly, when I change the bottom half to a 203UC it then displays the CLM correctly "A-12(121)"

Anyone know how to get the Column Location Mark to read R-S(-7") rather than what is shown in the attached image [ Q(-28'-0"-S(-7") ]?

I've got a number of columns on the R line that that is using Q(-28'-0") coordinate and some others that are correctly using "R".

I've made sure to maximize the 3D extents of the R line but that still doesn't reassign it.

Odd that you are hiding info about the top of column and it's phase that may be relevant.

Anyways, if you've checked the vertical extent of the grid I suggest try restarting Revit, combined with moving the column off the grid and then back again.

I just tried what you suggested and it is still showing Q(-28'-0").

I'm also noticing that it happening in other locations, specifically where a column is directly on one grid line but offset from a perpendicular grid line.

In some cases, if I draw a new intesecting grid line to the column, it will give me a clean Column Location Mark (see attached). But when I delete that K.12 line, the Column Location Mark jumps back to the Q(-28'-0").

That is fascinating. Sorry, I know I've had this happen before and that I had a restart and moving the column to fix the issue. Have you tried deleting Grid R and redrawing?

Bigger question is do you need it to be accurate? Are you reporting the coordinates in a schedule or the graphical column schedule?

Checked deleting and redrawing the R-line and it didn't fix the issue.

Yes, the intent was to use a graphical column schedule to call out location, top of steel, size, etc.

Sounds like it may be a bug on Revit's end...

Would you be able to send this to me so I can have a look? As there's been a few tips already I want to just take a look at give you some resolution - let me know if that's possible.

You can share it by direct messaging and it of course includes all the confidentiality included from the support side of Autodesk.

Let me know if you need me to clarify any of the above,

If the geometry of the Column is in contact with the grid then the offset disappear, that's why you get the wrong A-12 when having a bigger profile.

Any resolution? Even I am trying to get the column location mark showing accurate grid offset irrespective of whether the column touches or doesn't touch the grids. It should indicate the eccentricity of the column from Grid.

I came across this issue where I had a column that was supposed to be at intersection G-53. Instead, the column location mark read "F(-4'-0")-53".

I found out that gridline 53's 3D extent was not passing through the column. I corrected this and the location mark correctly read "G-53". Not sure why this had anything to do with the columns location in reference to gridline F, but fixing this did the trick.

Moral of the story: be sure to check the 3D extents of BOTH intersecting grids.
