Difference between the level headers

Hello everyone,

I am recently trying to learn Revit 2018, and i am at the moment with two issues... The first one is... why is some of the header that represent the level with a blue color, while other are with black color? You can see this in the image below. Another thing that I would like to know is if someone does understand why i have one level named level 9, since it is not in the project browser atm.

In regards to blue and black, this is just how revit displays the level. It will print black. you can change the look of the level by selecting it editing the type and changing the symbol. If you are just learning though, jumping into family editing might be something you wait on for a bit.

For the level naming, Revit does not name the levels based on where they are in regard to height. you'll have to do that yourself. It is based off of the last level created plus one. I would bet that you or someone else on the project has created several other levels. this can be done by copying accidently with other elements. level 9 is just what you can see. Levels are 3d elements. meaning their 3d extents can be moved around so they only show up in the location where they are needed. If your section cut is not cutting the level, it won't be seen.

The easiest way to see what levels are in your project is to start to create a new plan from the view tab on the ribbon under create. uncheck do not duplicate existing views and all the levels will be shown. Cancel if you don't need a new view.

Another way to see what levels you have is to create a new schedule using levels as your category.

Hi,

This is because you copy a level instead of drawing it.
you can assign it to a plan again then it turns blue.

The difference between black and blue is blue headers have a view associated with them whereas black headers don't. If you double-click the blue headers you will be taken to that plan view, double-click the black ones and nothing happens. This is because you can have levels without having a plan view for them.
