I had the same issue. I simply removed these from the family and readjust to suit (plus changed the behaviour to precast). Some OOTB families have issues and wrongly associated reference planes.

Hello,

Can anyone explain why the concrete beam family that comes with Revit 2019 has 13mm offsets from its connection points (please see attached image).

Many Thanks

If you look at such family you will notice few things.

1-No Reference have been marked as origin.

2-No Reference have been pinned (locked).

3-Family is not placed at internal origin.

In the screenshot I have a concrete column family from the library.

To mark the "true origin" I loaded a simple Autocad file (origin to origin). The Autocad file is just a cross at the Autocad origin.

As you can see the cross is slightly offset from the center of the column. This means the columns is not modeled at the "true origin" of the family.

Because no reference planes have been marked as origin Revit will use the "true origin" to place the column in the project causing the observed offsets.

The solution would be to mark two reference planes as origin (check "Defines Origin") inside the family

In most families you would mark and pin two reference to be used as origin.

Sorry... I still don't understand why the 13mm beam offset. could you give me some insight on why this is? It makes modeling structure a pain.

Hi, I don't understand why your family has this offset, since my native revit families don't.
Anyway, it is possible to remove this offset and the family should work normally.

I am attaching a picture of how the family is here

I'm using the beam from Revit 2022 content library. I will modify the beam. It seems so strange because it is Revit's stock beam.
