How to place column on a sloping workplane

When creating a sloping beam, i know that i have to create a sloped work plane and place the beam on that sloping work plane, the beams would obviously be attached to a column which will also has to slope to form the shape of my roof, at the moment to make the top of my columns slope i am using the 'attach/detach' command to attached my columns to the sloping work plane, I'm not quite sure if this is the right workflow to use so I'd like to know if there are any other ways of making the top of my columns slope to follow the slope of my beams.

You don't have to place it on a sloped plane. Just place it on a level above or near the sloped plane and attach the column base to the plane. It will be cut to follow the plane. See attached.

Would you normally place your beams before attaching the columns to the sloping workplane or would you attach the columns to the sloping workplane first and then place your beams on that same sloping workplane?

It doesn't matter, Now think about it, since you already have a loped beam, just attached the column top to the beam directly and choose Maximum Interaction from properties (see attached).
