Hi everyone,

I try to do the total weight for steel in "Structural Framing material takeoff schedule" which would use formula "Length * W/1' ". The problem is "W" value doesn't show up (see screen shot below). Any one knows why? Thank you!

just be very careful when using W from OOTB families - double check the values with steel tables. Not all have same units and I found some time ago (from 2016) that some were wrong. I had to change all steel families to make sure they are correct and compatible.

Thanks for your reply, but the link you mentioned only works for old beam families (before Revit change the beam family name and all the parameters). Still searching ...

OK, I found the solution. Just forget about "W"!! Since from Revit 2017, beam family parameters has changed, I just need to use different formula to calculate weight:

Weight = volume / 1 * 490
