Regarding to your question ; it is possible to tag the hole separately in Revit. I am attaching the inbuilt hole tag for revit 2019.2 for your reference.

Hi,

I recently learned that all the data from steel connections in Revit lie in some databases found at \program data\Autodesk\Revit Connections 2019.

As I started using the built-in connections in Revit, I realized that I have little control over tagging bolts, because when I call the diameter parameter I get values such as 30.00mm, instead of just 30, as I want.

Even though its not a huge problem, I wondered if there was a way to change, which led me to the .mdf files found on the above mentioned directory.

My question is:could I edit those .mdf files in sql server management studio to change the value from 30.00mm to 30?

Hi @Anonymous ,

I believe you can modify the database in advance steel and place that database again in the revit connection folder.

@shefypattambi , thank you so much! that worked great!

I find I can actually edit the Revit Connections database directly, by using the Advance Steel Management Tools -> Table Editor -> Open Database, which then I browse to the Revit Connections database...this is awesome!

One step further: would it be possible to edit the database so that I could get the hole diameter property out of some holes? Eg. I want to tag my bolts so that for an M24 bolt I get the parameter of the hole which would be 27mm. I know this is information is in those databases, but would I be able to show some other parameter rather than those stock parameters that bolts have?

Once again, thanks a lot!

Thank you! I was using a parametric connection and I wasn't able to tab through to the holes, but now I can.

Unfortunalety I wanted to create a tag with something like: 18 holes diam.27 for bolts M24. This tag would have to get parameters from both the bolt element and the hole element. This won't be possible, right?

Hello @Anonymous

I'm glad you found a method of getting the units to not show in the tag.
