Revit encountered a serious issue when i place a wall footing under curved wall

I keep getting the error: Revit encountered a serious error..." when i place a footing under a curved wall then try to modify the footing size. I have already created a recovery file and did a new save as file and tried placing a footing under the curved wall portion but still get same error. Has anyone ever encountered the same thing?

I have come across issues sometimes when using the Bearing Footing and due to the curve it cannot create the offset correctly for curved walls so by default we use the Bearing Footing, try this to see if it makes a difference. Also try placing in 3D just to see if something is not contributing to the issue out of view.

Obviously you should not be getting an Error but a warning if it cannot be completed so something is quite not right so make sure you have all updates etc. installed.

Thank you @jay_colc , i will try using a retaining footing instead and see if that issue occurs again. Its funny it should just give me a warning message and not cause my model to freeze when i try to edit or delete the footing. I am thinking also that the bearing footing properties cannot calculate the curved wall properties...and i did make sure all of the Revit 2024 updates were installed. I will try the retaining wall footing and let you know if that solves the issue.

@jay_colc yes i tried the retaining wall footing and i get the same issue...i also tried setting the wall to a retaining wall type and placing the retaining wall footing on that but still get the message that Revit encountered a serious issue and if i wanted to save a recovery file. I run audits on the model but nothing happens. I opened up a new Revit session for Revit 2024 and place created a curved wall and there it allowed me to place a wall footing on the curved wall and edit it with no issue so I suspect my file somehow got corrupted. At this point i will just open a new revit project and copy over my model.

I had no issues here, the angles were a little tight at the curve to straight transitions which maybe your issue

If it is not possible to smooth out the wall joins you may need to model this as a Model in Place element under the Wall using a Wall Foundation Category and a Sweep with a Profile to Match your required foundation size - bad example shown below

@jay_colc yes that sounds like a good next option since the wall joins may be causing the hiccup. Also the curved wall's top is sloping down (i used a reference plane to attach the top of the wall to). I will try the Model in Place instead 🙂 Thank you Jay!
