Cutting an element with the host based family which is not the host of family

Hi All,

I have a floor based family used as a thickening for the floor / base slab and I am having another floor below the host floor as a base blinding for the main floor.

I have created one floor based family hosted to the main floor and I wanted to cut blinding floor with that family.

Snip attached.

Any help is much appreciated.

I suppose you can use the 'JOIN' tool instead of 'CUT' tool, and doing it will give you what you desire.

I created a sample for you which you can find in below ref images.

I have taken a Floor based generic family template for 'CONCRETE THICKENING' family and made the profile as required.

Simply loaded it into my project.

and made 'Join' with my blinding.

Please refer below images for more clarification.

ref img 1 - Showing 'CONCRETE THICKENING' family, Slab & blinding same as your ref img in which the blinding is going through the Thickening.

ref img 2 - Showing the 'Join' command, which you will use to make a join between blinding and concrete thickening.

ref img 3 - Showing the Blinding being cut where the concrete thickening family is coming after the use of 'Join' command.

Use join tool, Select tool -->select your cutting floor family--> select binding floor. You will get your results.
