Ok, so we have something like this modeled in SolidWorks, there is no way at all we can model something like this in Revit? Is Revit not capable of handling this?

If not, can we import from SolidWorks to Revit? (Or would we have to Import it from Solidworks to Revit, then Export it to CAD then import it back to revit or something along that line?)

Hello Revit Community:

Currently we are creating Sheet Metal Hoppers in SolidWorks, but I was wondering a few questions:

1. What kind of thing scan we make out of sheet metal in Revit, and how/is there a demonstration (video perhaps)?

2. Can you make a Sheet Metal Hopper in Revit? We want to make a hopper that tappers off on the bottom to the opening.

3. Is there any videos or tutorials on how to make sheet metals in Revit that were made creating a hopper?

Thank you

Hi @Anonymous

If you want to create actual plate elements that will give you a flat pattern and fabrication drawings then that isnt possible in Revit (More than happy to be shown and told otherwise) If you have an AEC Collection you get Advance Steel alongside Revit and many other programs.

Advance Steel can handle sheet metalwork quite well, see example videos below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq2SJUzOqfM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xixrtau0p_U

Hi @Anonymous

I think it can be created in Revit but it would be generic solid modelling, you couldnt create the plates then fold them together.

If you have it created already in Solidworks then you can import that CAD into a Revit model see screenshot below, you can import different file formats
